Stanislaw Kulon (Siółko [Sobiesko], Ukraine 26 August 1930 - Warsaw 2022) - Polish sculptor, teacher, professor of fine arts.
He studied at the High School of Visual Arts in Zakopane (1948-1952) under Antoni Kenar. In 1952-1958 he studied at the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studios of Ludwika Nitschowa and Marian Wnuk, from whom he received his diploma. As a student, he participated in an exhibition at the Warsaw Arsenal in 1955. After graduation, he began teaching at his alma mater, where he passed through all levels of his academic career: 1958 assistant, 1959 senior assistant, 1964 assistant professor, 1971 associate professor, 1988 associate professor, 1995 full professor. He held the position of Vice-Dean of the Department of Sculpture from 1971-1978 and 1985-1987, and retired in 2000. In 1964, he joined the Rekonesans group and participated in its exhibitions in the 1960s and retrospective shows in the 1990s. He is involved in monumental and chamber sculpture (mainly in wood) and ceramic sculpture. He has participated in sculpture competitions, winning numerous prizes, including: honorable mention in the first stage, first degree honorable mention in the second stage of the competition for the Monument to the Heroes of Warsaw, 1957 and 1959; second and third prize in the competition for the Monument to the Insurgents of Greater Poland, Poznań 1962 (with Jan Kucz); first prize in the competition for the Monument to Maria Konopnicka, Warsaw 1966; first prize in the competition for the Monument to the Glory of the Sappers, Warsaw 1973; honorable mention in the competition for the sculptural work The Passion of the Lord, Warsaw 1983. He has had many solo exhibitions, including Zachęta Gallery, Warsaw 1971; Polish Sculpture Center, Orońsko 1992; Sculpture Gallery, Warsaw 1997; Salon of Contemporary Art BWA, Bydgoszcz 1998. More important realizations include: monument to Maria Konopnicka, Warsaw (1966); Mother, Piestany, Slovakia (1968); Glory to the Sappers monument, Warsaw (1975); Monument to the Heroes 1939-1945, Starachowice (1978); monument in honor of those murdered in 1939-1945, Jabłonna near Warsaw (1982); Monument to the Fallen 1939-1945, Bieżuń (1986).
