This project is a deep reflection on gender identity, freedom of self-expression and transgression of social norms. It was inspired by my personal experiences and observations on gender stereotypes, as well as my fascination with the Drag subculture. I want through art to encourage reflection on issues of sexuality and acceptance - so necessary in the modern world.
MONIKA KOSSAK
Photography is a way of expression for me. I believe,
that it is the duty of the artist to ask difficult questions, to take the viewer out of his comfort zone, and at the same time to smuggle in also something
from yourself. I am inspired by collage and the possibilities associated with it. The collage technique, is still an inexhaustible source of surprising artistic solutions. It is currently evolving in digital format, adding new possibilities to classic methods.
The impetus for creating installations and going beyond purely photographic realizations was the iconic figure of the artist, Marina Abramović.
I do not feel that I am an artist pigeonholed or formally limited by any framework. I would like to exhibit my sculptures and photographs
in the future at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. I am working on an original performance piece and several art objects. I love "playing" with form, transforming the obvious into non-obvious images. It gives me great pleasure, I develop myself, I look for new forms of artistic expression. I graduated from the UAP with a diploma " If I were a boy I would be a drake" at the Faculty of Photography - intermedia major, which specializes students
in image creation through the use of new media.
