Edward Dwurnik studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the painting studio of Prof. Eugeniusz Eibisch and the sculpture studio of Prof. Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz. He received his diploma in the painting studio of Prof. Krystyna Lada-Studnicka in 1970. While still a student, in 1965, influenced by an exhibition of works by the primitivist Nikifor, he adopted a style of painting similar to his. He began to create drawings, and in 1966 the first paintings of the series "Hitchhiking Journeys" - the oldest and most numerous in his oeuvre. In the 1990s, a number of paintings were created as a continuation of this series, namely "Blue Cities," "Diagonal," "Blue" and "Enumeration." In the individual works, which are peculiar portraits of cities shown from a bird's-eye perspective, the artist does not focus on a faithful reproduction of the topography, but accumulates architectural and social and moral motifs characteristic of the place.
