The painting "Gravity" draws attention to its elaborate composition, woven into a distinctive, vibrating set of lines. The artist used primarily cool color tones. The dark background highlights the structure of shapes and forms, forming deformed human silhouettes. They seem to dissolve and merge into new organisms, and thus participate in a continuous process of transformation. In the 1980s (from which the offered work comes), Dobkowski experiments more boldly with color, incorporating new hues. At the same time, his artistic visions seem to be more gripping, object-oriented. Important series from this period include "Threnody," "Icarus" and "Genesis," among others.
