Sigismund I the Old, Half-Grosz, 1527, Vilnius – mirror-image “Z” – uninscribed and very rare
A variant featuring the Pogoń coat of arms without a sword scabbard (short hind legs) on the obverse and an eagle with its upper feathers pointing toward the eagle’s head (varying number of feathers on the wings) on the reverse.
The letter “N” on the obverse is a mirror image.
Variant with a colon after the date and a period after LITVANIE—rare.
Date error—the digit Z in the date is struck in a mirror image—very rare.
Condition: 3/3+
Slightly bent and under-struck, but a nicely preserved piece for this type. Rare year. A very rare date error. The coin is very rare (not listed in the specialized Huletski/Bagdonas catalog) and difficult to find on the collector’s market.
