Biography
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (1932–34) and in Kraków (1933–36), where she graduated under the supervision of W. Weiss. In 1942, she escaped from the Lviv ghetto. During her studies, she sympathized with the “Krakow Group” circle and participated in the formation of the artistic avant-garde after World War II. In addition to easel painting, she worked in collage and poetry. The artist developed her own unique symbolism, freely combining abstract forms with the world of real shapes. Her works were exhibited, among other venues, at the Modern Art Exhibition in Kraków (1948 and 1949) and in Warsaw (1957 and 1959), as well as at the “Nine” exhibition (1955). She also exhibited at the Krzysztofory and Krzywe Koło galleries. In 1977, she received the C. K. Norwid Art Critics’ Award, and in 1966, the J. Cybis Award for her lifetime achievement.
