watercolor, cotton paper, 53 x 65 cm, framed: approx. 70 x 90 cm, signed l.d.: Monika Borowicz
Born in 1976 in Cracow, in a family with artistic traditions. From an early age, she was involved in drawing and painting, developing her skills in numerous cultural and educational institutions.
In 1997, she opened the "Retro" Author's Gallery on the Main Square in Krakow and established the "Retro" Art Group, bringing together artists who promote the unique character of Krakow at home and abroad. Artists associated with the group created paintings, illustrations, logos and decorative designs inspired by the city's history and tradition.
In 1997, it was certified by the National Artistic Commission of the Cepelia Foundation. A year later, she received the support of the City of Cracow in the form of an exhibition and trade space in the Cloth Hall arcades on the Main Square.
Between 1997 and 2004, she created three series of works dedicated to Krakow:
"Retrospectives" - pen and ink drawings inspired by 19th century engravings, depicting Krakow from 1900-1936; the series was presented in 1999 at the Plock Scientific Society.
"My City" - watercolors showing fleeting, unique moments of light falling on fragments of Krakow's architecture.
"Skeching" - free, spontaneous watercolor sketches recording scenes from city life. In 2021, an exhibition of her watercolors titled "AQUA-re-LOVE - return to Krakow" was held at the Culture Club "Mirage".
In March 2023, she was invited to participate in the art event "FINEness International Art Festival" organized by IWS Poland in Rybnik.
Currently, the artist presents her works both in online galleries at home and abroad, as well as at art auctions.
