The subject of the nude - extremely popular at the turn of the 20th century - was often a pretext for showing the idealized beauty of the female body, set in a moody, sometimes intimate interior or landscape. In the case of Sawczyk's painting, it is clear that the artist followed this trend, combining classical aesthetics with elements of decorativeness characteristic of the fin de siècle era.
The St. Adalbert Factory, owned by Włodzimierz and Maria Tur (Warsaw 23 Jerozolimskie Avenue), was a renowned company operating in the interwar period, specializing in the manufacture and conservation of devotional items and church furnishings. It offered altars, pulpits, statues, statuettes and paintings, among others, from its own factory. It also engaged in the restoration of church equipment and monuments, as well as the framing of paintings. It is mentioned in historical sources in 1923, 1927 and 1934.
